April 10, 2015- The construction of Phase V of the project, which was anticipated to begin in early May, has been delayed pending approval of funding from the Federal Government. Construction may be postponed until late June, further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
March 20, 2015- There will be a neighbourhood meeting on March 24th at 7:00 p.m. at the Jack Blanchard Centre on Pond Street to discuss the next construction phase of this project, which is anticipated to begin in May.
July 25, 2014- Work has now been completed on Phase III of the project. Island Coastal Services Ltd. have begun work on Phase IV, and construction activity is currently underway on Pond and Summer Streets. Progress will continue through Eden Street, Willow Street, Kirkwood Drive, and Newland Crescent. Construction of Phase IV is anticipated to be complete by the end of October 2014.
June 6, 2014- Island Coastal Services Ltd. continue with construction of Phase III of the project. Work has been completed on Queen Street and is currently underway on Wendy Drive and Kirkwood Drive, after which the crews will move to Dunkirk Street and Newland Crescent. Construction of Phase III is anticipated to be complete by the end of June 2014. The Phase IV contract has been awarded to Island Coastal Services Ltd., with construction anticipated to begin July 21, 2014.
May 5, 2014– Island Coastal Services Ltd. has been awarded the contract for Phase III of the project, and construction has now begun, with an anticipated completion by the end of June. Work is currently underway on Queen Street, from Pond Street to Newland Crescent.
February 2014- There will be a neighbourhood meeting on March 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Jack Blanchard Centre on Pond Street to discuss the next construction phases of this project, which are anticipated to begin in May.
November 14, 2013- Island Coastal Services has completed Phase 2 construction with the installation of 3950 m of new sewer main, 1500 m of new sewer service laterals and 64 new manholes. With the construction season coming to a close, final reinstatement will be completed in the coming weeks; including landscaping and site cleanup. The Spring Park Combined Sewer Separation Project was recently recognized by Atlantic Canada Water and Wastewater Association as the 2013 Project of the Year for large systems servicing over 25,000 customers. The award was presented at the 2013 ACWWA Conference held in Fredericton, NB from Sept. 29 – Oct. 1.
September 25, 2013- Island Coastal Services continue with the installation of the new gravity sewer main, with approximately 3.0 kilometers installed to date. The installation is complete on all of the major streets, with work now progressing onto Selkirk Crescent, Trafalgar Street, Riverview Drive, North River Lane and Maloney Drive.
July 29, 2013- Island Coastal Services continue with the installation of the new gravity sewer main, with approximately 1.3km installed to date. They are currently preparing to begin the installation along North River Road, which will take approximately 7 weeks as they work north towards Nassau Street.
June 7, 2013There will be a neighbourhood meeting on June 19th at 7:00 pm, at the Jack Blanchard Centre on Pond Street, to discuss the current construction activity. All who have questions and/or concerns regarding the construction are welcome to attend.
